Acupuncture and other Education
Peter Kington acupuncturist in Brisbane, earned his Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture) from the Australian College of Natural Medicine/Endeavour College of Natural Health. As part of his course of study, Peter was able to immerse himself in acupuncture at the Guangxi Traditional Chinese Medicine University in Nanning, Guangxi province, China.
To reflect his growing interest in fertility, Peter undertook a Masters of Reproductive Medicine at the University of NSW. Amongst his classmates were IVF doctors, IVF nurses and other complementary healthcare practitioners.
While challenging, this degree has helped Peter to fully understand the concepts behind fertility medicine.
This knowledge has given Peter a framework for the appropriate delivery of acupuncture for his clients in his Brisbane acupuncture clinic in New Farm.
In the early 1990s, Peter Kington acupuncturist had this crazy idea he wanted to teach high school kids history and English.
His first degree was in the humanities – history, English studies and politics – at the University of Queensland.
He then took a Master’s degree in history from the University of New England.
In 2008 and 2009 Peter completed a Graduate Certificate of Higher Education to support his other career goal of teaching and learning for undergraduates and in the delivery of professional development seminars.
Peter Kington acupuncturist – life story
Born on the Redcliffe peninsula, Peter was the recipient of a state school education. Upon completing high school, Peter Kington acupuncturist enrolled in an Arts degree with the view to becoming a high school teacher.
Halfway through his degree, Peter had a life-changing experience when he was chosen to participate in a cultural exchange program to Canada. As a result of this, Peter learnt two things about himself: that he loved travelling the world and would be a lousy high school teacher.
Upon returning home, he put his world travel plans on hold and dutifully finished of his Arts degree and then started a Master’s degree in history (because he also thought he was going to be a leading academic until he realised he didn’t like academia).
Eventually he worked out he could have it all – teach and travel – if he became an international tour director. He travelled to San Francisco, studied at a travel school for a bit and got a job with a leading US travel company called Globus and Cosmos and then later, with Tauck
For five years Peter Kington acupuncturist guided tours through England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
And that was until he burnt out from too much travel and high energy living. At that point he decided to rekindle his interest in the human body and all thing Asian and decided to study Chinese medicine.
It was like a hand in a glove and to this day, studying acupuncture remains the single best decision he ever made.
